The celebration that recognizes the county’s rich literary heritage kicks off Friday, Sept. 21st at 5:00 at the Mansion on Main, where there will be a book signing and meet & greet honoring Doris Gwaltney, renowned local author.  At 7:00 members of the Isle of Wight Writers Group will walk to the Parish Hall at Christ Church to read poetry or excerpts from their works during Open Mic Nite (7:00 – 9:00).  The community is welcome to participate, as well.   There will also be music, and snacks will be available, with all donations going to the Christian Outreach Program.

On Saturday, Sept. 22nd, beginning at 10:00 A.M., Smithfield authors Jeffrey Blount, Michael Farmer, and Kim Norman will give presentations at the Smithfield Library.  An afternoon presentation will take place at 2:00 P.M. at the Isle of Wight County Museum.  These events commemorate the county’s more than 50 published authors.  All events are free and open to the public.
